A vape pen is a very stylish portable device that is very much in trend these days. Although it requires constant recharging – unless it is the disposable model – there are models like the Pax 3 or the Firefly 2 that can vaporize two different concentrates (oils and waxes) and scent with floral essence. Although it must be said, its sheer size calls into question the definition of ‘pen.’
Cartridge Vape pens
- Very lightweight, low-maintenance, and inexpensive design.
- Compatible with universal cartridges previously filled with ‘speck’ oil.
- Cartridges are made of plastic, metal, or glass and can be thrown away when empty.
- The battery fits or integrates into the cartridge, like a replacement pen.
Concentrated feathers
- The functions and design are very similar to the cartridge, except that you fill the container with the extracts.
- If the concentrate is very thick, you have to buy e-juice to dilute it. (It’s disgusting. I know!).
- It has more removable parts than the cartridge pen.
- The atomizer button usually gets stuck or broken.
Herb vaporizers
- They can only vaporize dry herbs.
- They are longer than a vape in the form of a pen.
- Models are more expensive.
How do they work?
The main components of a vape in the form of a pen are the battery, the power button, an atomizer, the tank (or container), and a mouthpiece, such as an electronic cigarette.
When activated (usually via the button, inhaling, or both), the battery heats the atomizer, which ignites the herb. Its concentrate is dispensed into the container to a temperature high enough for vaporization to occur but not at a temperature that can cause combustion or burn it.
Temperature is a significant factor. The heat deepens the effect of what you are inhaling. The lower the heat, the smaller the volume of steam, and vice versa. It’s a significant weakness for vapes in pen form. Some latest generation models allow you to control the exact temperature you need, although, if anything, they only offer a couple of alternatives.
Is it legal?
In the United States, the regulation of cannabis is confusing, as marijuana (and therefore vaping marijuana) is illegal under federal law. However, it is quasi-legal in some states and, on the other hand, subject to local restrictions and immunity in some cities. But if you are interested in consulting the laws in this regard, visit the Normal page.
What are the health concerns or impacts?
Any substance that affects your body’s performance or its chemical structure must be consumed and treated with great care. The use of cannabis is not a new practice. However, the way of consuming this substance is something new – including vaporization or vaping. And, in this sense, we still do not know enough about its long and short-term effects.
There is still insufficient research to support that vaping is less harmful than smoking, especially considering that the cannabis market (in the extract, flower, or devices) is still an unregulated industry. Until there is more information or more research on the matter and regulations to support this data for a substance that is even prohibited, concerns about health effects will remain unclear or inconclusive.
Considering that the legalization of marijuana at the national level is still far from being implemented in the United States, it would be essential that critical information about the health effects of vapes – good and bad – is available before the market is saturated and within reach of the restless hands of the world.
