Fentanyl Abstral is formulated as a white tablet available in six strengths, distinguished by the shape of the tablet and the engraving on the tablet’s surface.
Abstral (Fentanyl) Sublingual tablet 400mcg is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of breakthrough cancer pain. Abstral fentanyl overdose can be used alone or with other medicines. Fentanyl Abstral is in a class of medications called opioid analgesics, abstral 400, and Anilidopiperidine.
Fentanyl passes quickly through the moist skin of the mouth into the bloodstream. Most people get pain relief in 5-10 minutes, lasting about 30-60 minutes.
The absorption of fentanyl from Abstral fentanyl tablets occurs mainly through the oral mucosa. The bioavailability of ABSTRAL sublingual tablets has been estimated to be 54%. Dose proportionality has been demonstrated over the ABSTRAL dose range of 100 mcg to 800 mcg (Table 4).

What is Abstract? Abstral (fentanyl) is an opioid pain reliever. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. The sublingual tablet is positioned on the floor of the mouth under the tongue (sublingual) and allowed to dissolve.
Start with the lowest dose of fentanyl sublingual tablet (Abstral® 100 micrograms): An amount of Abstral® may be given to treat a pain episode or 5 to 10 minutes before an event that is expected to cause pain.
Place the sublingual tablet under the tongue on each side of the frenulum. Place the tablet under the language for the prescribed time, keeping the mouth closed. Wait several minutes before eating or drinking, as this may affect the absorption of the medication.
Sublingual tablets are placed under the tongue, where they can quickly dissolve or disintegrate and are absorbed directly without passing into the GIT (gastrointestinal tract).
